The Center for SELF Discovery is in Escondido, the site of Tarra’s main practice. She also sees clients in an office in the Hillcrest area of San Diego. Tarra is a Certified Bioenergetic Therapist (CBT), has EMDR Level II certification, has been trained in Somatic Experiencing and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), a modality developed by Dr. Susan Johnson, E.D. devoted to helping couples heal their relationships.

Tarra has extensive experience and training in working with trauma and helping to alleviate the negative impact that trauma has on a person’s well-being. She believes that life's experiences offer a doorway to one's true self, and are best accessed within the safety of the therapeutic relationship. Through the exploration of one's mind and the accompanying energies stored in the body, the Bioenergetic therapist is able to facilitate healing from the wounds that life brings, offering an opportunity to reclaim one's full potential. Our capacity for joy, love, happiness, creativity, spirituality; our sexuality and aliveness—can be experienced more fully and freely with the tools and experience she offers.

Bioenergetics is a mind/body method of therapy that is based on the premise that a person’s experiences are not just registered in the mind but are also stored in the muscle tissue of the body. Thus, when working with an individual, for lasting change, the mind and the body need to be involved in the therapeutic process.

Bioenergetic Therapists have met all of the licensing requirement as Mental Health Providers in their state of licensure. In addition, they have completed a rigorous four year post-graduate course of study in Bioenergetic Analysis. They are specifically trained to work with the relationship between the mind, emotions, and the body. Additional hours of supervision qualify a graduate for certification as a Bioenergetic Therapist (CBT).

Bioenergetic Therapists have faced their own journey of self-exploration and offer support and encouragement to you as you face your own path to awareness and growth.
